In your statement, include your beliefs and values in each of the following areas:

  • The purpose of education
  • Vision of a commitment to collaboration in promoting the growth and development of young children
  • The role of the teacher as a leader and advocate according to some of the ethical frameworks that you have examined

The Purpose of Education

Education is a tool to promote efficiency in economic, social, and political sections of life. According to Hirst (2010), valuable knowledge is one which brings efficient production in both the public and private sectors. The purpose of education should be to increase the standards of livings, enhance cohesion among humans, and facilitate proper governance. The world is full of scarce goods and services. To survive, humans must continually engage in trading activities to supplement and complement their needs. Studies on business and economics are propellers in the economic development of nations.

Students can change the world in a considerable measure if they are allowed to properly apply professional concepts to improve national output. Humans must coexist with one another through derisive relations and integration of different cultures and beliefs. Therefore, the purpose of education is to enlighten the public on ethics, respect, and acceptance of people’s ways of life. These attributes are essential in promoting social togetherness where people live in harmony.

Education also promotes political stability. Courses such as political science and diplomacy studies are essential because learners who take up leadership positions can rule with integrity and discernment. Educated leaders can set specific goals that are measurable and serves the interest of the public. I believe education is helpful in politics as it aims to govern the leaders with specific codes of ethics and civilization. The process of constitution-making requires different specialists with various skills and knowledge that is obtainable from higher institutions of learning.

Promoting the Growth and Development of Young Children

It is essential to consider, through the evaluation of ECD learning practices, if the curriculum suit the current needs of children. According to Padilla (2015), despite the need for civil harmony, education is intended to impose unique characteristics to children in their growth and development. Due to social and economic changes, children must be educated with new curriculums that are important for them today rather than using the same old methods used at the onset of 19the century. In the present life, children are expected to advance in speaking, learning, and living harmoniously with people.

Proper speaking promotes excellent communication among children. I believe children should be instructed in speech even before classroom work begins. There are genius children who cannot express themselves in class but performs well in examinations. This group of children requires additional attention from teachers to participate actively in class discussions. Children who are shy to talk in front of their colleagues and teachers should be trained on how to overcome the fear and speak their views freely.

In a world of progressive intelligence, brain education should be included in early childhood education. The world needs straight and smart thinkers to cope up with and curb the planet’s problems. Children must learn how to develop their brain capacities and think like problem solvers. In the instruction, children should know proper health tips necessary to increase brain powers.

The Role of the Teacher as a Leader and Advocate

Teachers are stewards for students in matters that pertain to morals, behavior, and discipline. As such, teachers brace themselves with core values that they use when confronted by issues from students. The problems could range from personal relations to general attributes such as sexuality and religion. Teachers, therefore, play the role of instructing learners on better ways of coexisting and enjoying life together in an ethical manner.

In shaping students’ lives, teachers must instruct them to uphold moral values such as honesty, integrity, charity among others of self and others. I believe it is the teachers’ responsibility to monitor the students how they relate with another through words and actions. Teachers should, at all times, be conscious of the words they use in front of their students. According to Lerner and Callina (2014), a student’s character is significantly influenced by the behavior of teachers. In agreement, teachers are the second parents to students, and I believe they play a vital role in the behavior development of learners.

Self-Reflecting on Teaching Practices and Education Policy

Self-reflecting is a crucial factor in determining the development of teaching practices. As stated by Algan and Shleifer (2013), advancement in education comes by assessing past experiences and strategizing in the future. In education activities, the process of individual evaluation reveals gaps in knowledge in the field, which further leads to research to improve competence. Self-reflecting is an advantage as teachers can relate and apply skills learnt in class to daily life. I believe all teachers should assess their teaching practices and offer the best quality education for the current generation.

In conclusion, education plays a very important role in establishing meaningful links and conducive environment for everyone in the society in terms of interactions and communication. It’s important that important habits and life lessons be passed on to children as they grow up. The teachers should be thorough and be able to mold responsible people in the society in their teenage and adolescent lives.
